Just lately, I am very aware of the fact that I haven’t been a great blogger. It’s not just my poor Life on Vista Street that I have been neglecting: My emails are mounting up by the day and I have a to do list as long as my arm.
And there in lie the joys of being a hobby blogger: there is no need to panic when life gets in the way. It just means that I’ll have more content when things calm down.
I just keep snapping away with my camera and sometimes am admittedly merrily distracted by box sets on Netflix and Bake Off (SIDE NOTE: Anyone else disappointed with the level of talent this year?! Few too many drama queens this year for me too).
I haven’t done an update of what we’ve been up to since July. And my how time has flown since then… I know I say this every month but 2016 really is just zooming by. In less than two months my baby will be three years old and then soon after *that* Father Christmas will be on his way.
Anyway – whats been going on?
We Moved House
So far we have been in our new new home for six weeks. So far, so good. And although I do have lots of fond and happy memories (and Little Miss thinks the house is sad because no one lives there at the moment) of our old home it’s nice to live in a house that isn’t on a noisy main road.
I haven’t really taken any photos of our new home. We’re just enjoying it. And our new garden – oh how wonderful it is for Little Miss and her tiny pals to have somewhere fun to play when the weather is dry.
Southport Flower Show
I’ve already raved about what a lovely time we had at Southport Flower Show – but I am seriously considering grabbing a few tickets for next year already. We were so lucky with the weather this year.
We Found Dory
We were invited to a grand day out at the Sea Life Centre in Blackpool during summer. We went to see if we could find Dory! And find her we did.
Mr Vista and I were impressed at how nice the sea life centre was. The last time we went to Blackpool properly was before we were even married (so longer than a decade ago – owch) and we don’t remember the Sea Life Centre being that great – it has vastly improved. We would recommend. Highly.
I was really sad to admit though – Blackpool is not how I remember it. The main front is nice for a walk and there are lots of attractions… but the pier, the pavements, the amusements… are really, really dated and a little scruffy. I did enjoy the views from the front looking out to sea though.
Liverpool Food and Drink Festival
Some of you might have caught me sharing this article I wrote for the Liverpool Food and Drink Festival’s blog. That guy I interviewed? Tom? He ain’t heavy – he’s my brother.
We hot footed it down to Sefton Park the weekend before last to enjoy some of the great food on offer and loads, and loads of sunshine! We had a really lovely afternoon and I must say it’s nice to have your big brother all to yourself from time to time isn’t it?!
I took so many snaps and had *such* fun that I intend to write a more in depth blog post about the Food and Drink Festival another time… and share a recipe I came up with after stumbling upon the most amazing cheese. You’ll want to see this now that those dark nights are drawing in. Total comfort food. I’ll keep you posted, dear reader.
Show Me The Thrift
So I have this BFF called Donna who is as passionate about restoring and recycling fashion items as I am. (You can read more about my obsession with second hand clothes here).
We go out on thrifting dates together fairly regularly and like most thrifters we have our favourite haunts. On one of these particular thrift dates to an undisclosed location we started to tag our finds with the hastag SHOW ME THE THRIFT in the hope that some of you guys would share your wares!
We Went On Hollibobs
We drove across our very own beautiful green country to visit Angela Ballerina at Skegness Butlins (every two year olds dream, is it not?!?) and had a really lovely holiday. I did take my ‘big’ camera with me but decided to have a complete week off from everything except my family. And so I did… this means I have no photographs. But I did have a salted caramel ice cream the size of my head.
I know what my priorities are.
We also visited a great little place en route to Butlins called Pink Pigs Farm. Again, I don’t really have any photos but it’s a great pitstop just outside of Scunthorpe for anyone else travelling West to East.
And although in the time that I was on holiday and working away from home for my day job I put on three and a half pounds (even with meal planning and making use of my beloved overnight oats), I was ok with it. I know where the extra weight came from and it will soon drop off again – that is as soon as I can get myself out of holiday mode.
So… whats new with you?! (Thanks for reading Time Flies…)
