This blog post is more of a visual aid for me. You see we’ve been to Geronimo Festival at Tatton Park today – we had a great time but more to come on that later – and the weather was phenomenally glorious.
So, SO dry and sunny. I’d love more of the same for our holiday next week… but with us holidaying in Wales this could be highly unlikely.
So without having to shop (because I’m skint) what can I take with me to wear in every weather related eventuality?
Like, if it’s REALLY hot…?
Cotton skirt and vest top:
I plan to wear this F&F skirt (thifted and then gifted to me by a friend) with a white or pale blue vest top tucked into it. If the weather is glorious then this will be great teamed with ballet pumps (see my lace up ballet pumps below) and a top knot.
If it’s cooler I could add a denim jacket and wavy hair. And if the rain comes when I’ll add a dark blue scarf and my welly boots and go for festival chic.
Or what if it’s REALLY wet?
Checked shirt, ripped ankle grazers and chunky statement necklace:
This GAP shirt was thrifted from the British Red Cross shop from down the road. It sat freshly laundered in my bottom drawer for months as I always felt a little ‘butch’ in it. But one day I wore it to work on casual Friday and realised how much I love it.
I also have a denim skirt that I could tuck this shirt in to with a chunky tan belt. I always wear it with a statement necklace to ‘pretty’ it up a little… and the ankle grazers are a absolute god send. They are high waisted so perfect for the wet days that we end up in soft play!
Depending on the weather – I’d wear either of the above outfits with welly boots or converse trainers. Mine are burgundy….
Maybe it could be a little spring-like?
Denim swing dress with sparkly studs and tie clip:
This denim swing dress is a recent purchase from Simply Be. I loved the colour, the fabric and the price tag (£32!!!!!!). Before I lost a little weight I was always reluctant to wear button up dresses and tops due to gaping. Now I find that some of the thicker fabrics don’t gape at all.
I adore this dress but have only wore it once. With black opaque tights and wedge boots. This time I intend to go girly casual and wear it with burgundy converse, a silver tie pin to add a little detail and some twinkly girly earnings… maybe I’ll put that brown belt around the middle if it feels a little too swingy?!
These earrings were a gift from my mum. I remember her wearing something just like them when I was small and I love the idea of imprinting similar happy memories onto my Little Miss Vista.
What if this flipping weather just can’t make up it’s mind?
Butterfly tunic top and lace-up ballet pumps:
I picked these little shoesies up on a recent shopping trip to Green Oaks in Widnes – a friend and I were invited to visit, but again, more on that in another post – and when we were there we stumbled into Select.
They had these lace up shoes in black and pale pink. So pretty and so in style at the moment. It took a HUGE amount of will power not to buy them in both colours… even if they were less than tenner!
I’ll team these shoes with most of outfits as I’ve strategically made all outfits match them. But I do love a little monochrome with a pastel. I could wear my blue ankle grazers with this pretty little butterfly top and these shoes.
I could also tuck this top into my denim skirt and wear these shoes too… or my welly boots and denim jacket.
What if it’s warm and wet?
Dorothy Perkins stripe dress:
I picked this dress up from Dorothy Perkins at the beginning of the year for little more than a tenner in the sale. I wasn’t sure when I’d wear it or what I’d wear it to (or even if I’d wear it at all) but I love the stripes and the criss cross strap back.
I’ve since wore it a few times with my cons and my denim jacket – never brave enough to go jacketless and bare my sticky-outy-postpartum tummy – but next week with the right amount of warmth maybe I could?
Notice my plans for up-dos or
wild natural waves? I plan to give my hair a rest and leave my hair dryer and straighteners at home. I’ll scrunch with my usual mousse to add texture and let my hair do what it likes… within reason.
