So here goes:
1. What is your favourite Christmas Movie?
I’m not really sure that I could pick just one! I have got a piece of writing in the drafts box detailing my top 20 Christmas movies… but if I had to pick one right now it would be The Polar Express.
It is just so damn full of Christmas-Tingle! That lovely warm rosy glow that this movie just exudes… it is just completely magic!
2. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?
Christmas morning traditionally but the hubby and I have been known to steal a little of the American Christmas cheekiness and open the odd gift that has us really curious on Christmas eve… after midnight of course!
3. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?
The very first Christmas ever
that I remember, my mum seems to think that I was about three years old. I remember getting my pop-up Wendy house…. but all of my other gifts were INSIDE the Wendy house. Including the freakiest doll
you ever did see, but I loved her… So much in fact that her head eventually fell off.
I remember being happy. I am blessed enough to be able to say that I have had very many Merry Christmas’, but this one stays with me and makes me smile.
4. Festive food.
Basically anything that we don’t usually buy or allow ourselves to eat because it is too ‘naughty’. Marks and Spencer’s triple chocolate crunch for breakfast anyone?… Cinnamon swirls with Christmas Spice coffee for pre-lunch snack and a ma-HOOSIVE Christmas dinner with all the trimmings… except bread sauce… I just don’t see the point in it?
5. Favourite Christmas gift?
About five years ago my husband bought me a ring. It is a cluster of diamonds around a pink sapphire. I love it and it is one of my favourite pieces of jewellery I wear it on the wedding ring finger of my right hand everyday… it’s too pretty to live in a box!
6. Favourite Christmas scent?
Yankee Candle’s Christmas Eve. To me, there is no competition for a more christmassy smell. I love it so much that I usually buy a few in the January sales and put them away for the next year.
7. Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?
The family service at church which includes carols, the annual lighting of the Christmas trees and one very lucky little person gets to put the candle in the crib to await the arrival of the baby Jesus at midnight mass. It’s all very magical and full of Christmas spirit!
I was sad to miss it last year due to it being very cold and our Little Miss being just a few weeks old.
After church we come home, watch ‘Father Christmas’. Bath. Christmas PJs. Then it’s bed time… or hide under the covers until the fat man has been! This is the tradition that I have brought into our new little family from my childhood.
8. What tops your tree?
The same poor manky hand-made angel that we got from a church Christmas fair years ago. I was thinking of getting a new one for next year and letting this poor old dear retire, but after the hashtag #savethechristmasfairy on instgram I don’t have the heart.
9. As a kid what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received?
I should point out that I am not a spoilt person and was not a spoilt child. When my brothers and I were small, we always got what we wanted for Christmas.
But as an adult, one year I asked for an iPod shuffle… I received a pink mp3 player that held around 20 songs. Very thoughtful… but no the same thing.
I smiled, said thank you and bought my own!
10. What’s the best part about Christmas for you?
Being together. Nothing makes me feel richer in life than spending time with the people that I care about and that I know care about me… the chocolate doesn’t hurt either!
